About Clarity
Clarity is a private, minimalist app for tracking consumption habits — smoking, alcohol, caffeine, or any tracker you define yourself. If something is not working, or you have a question or an idea, get in touch.
Contact
Email: support@danobe.dev
Clarity is built and maintained by one person (Daniel Oberlechner).
I normally reply within 2–3 business days.
There is no support account to create and no ticket portal.
Just send an email with your problem/issue.
Reporting a bug
First I have to say "Thank you" for reporting and making Clarity a better experience for all users. The more information you can include, the faster it gets fixed:
- What happened, and what you expected instead.
- Steps to reproduce — what you tapped, in what order.
- Your device (e.g. iPhone 15 Pro) and iOS version.
- Your Clarity version (see Settings).
- A screenshot or screen recording, if the problem is visible.
Please do not send screenshots containing notes or private information you would rather keep to yourself — we only need enough to reproduce the issue.
FAQ: Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to use Clarity?
No. Clarity has no account, no login, and no sign-up. You can use the whole app without giving us any personal information.
Where is my data stored? Can you see it?
Your trackers and entries are stored locally on your device. If you use iCloud, they also sync through your own iCloud account. We never upload your data to our servers and we cannot see it - which also means we cannot recover it for you if it is lost. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
My data is not syncing between my iPhone and iPad
Clarity syncs through your personal iCloud account, so sync problems are almost always iCloud-side. Check that:
- Both devices are signed into the same Apple ID.
- iCloud Drive is turned on (iOS Settings → your name → iCloud).
- Clarity is enabled in the iCloud app list.
- Both devices have a working network connection.
Sync can take a moment to catch up. If it still does not work after that, email us at support@danobe.dev and tell us which devices and iOS versions are involved.
How do I delete my data?
In the app: Settings → Delete all data. This wipes your trackers and entries. Deleting the app from your device removes the local data as well.
Because your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account, deletion is immediate and final - there is no copy on our side to remove, and no way to undo it.
I'm not getting my milestone reminders
Milestone reminders are for pause trackers and are scheduled locally on your device - nothing is sent through a server, so they work offline. If they are not arriving:
- Check that notifications are allowed: iOS Settings → Notifications → Clarity.
- Check that Focus / Do Not Disturb is not suppressing them.
- Check that the reminder is enabled in Clarity's own notifications settings.
I have a feature request
Please send it - email hello@danobe.dev. Clarity is deliberately small and focused, so not every idea will make it in, but requests genuinely shape what gets built next.
Which devices does Clarity support?
Clarity is an iOS app and is intended for ages 17+. The current iOS requirement is listed on the app's App Store page.
Privacy
Clarity is private by default: no account, no ads, no advertising trackers, and your logged data never reaches our servers. The full details - including the anonymous analytics and crash reporting we use to keep the app stable - are in the Privacy Policy.
